‘One night while dining with friends at the Groucho Club sometime in the mid-90s, Angus Fairhurst joined us at the table and took the napkin (which was already stained with red wine) off my lap, produced a felt-tipped pen from inside his jacket and proceeded to draw a gorilla onto the napkin (an image he frequently used in his work). Once finished (it took maybe 10 minutes), he handed it back to me saying “Jules ... something to remember me by”.
