The Groucho Club is proud to present Max Cooper’s Order From Chaos at the Official Frieze London Opening Party on Wednesday October 4th.
‘Order From Chaos’ is a beautiful humanised exploration of life and emergence, commissioned by musician and former-scientist, Max Cooper, and created by Maxime Causeret.
Max Cooper has carved out a unique position for himself as an artist interested in creating multi-sensory experiences across emotional dance floor experimentation, fine art sound design and visual artefacts created to understand and process the insights of science through works of art.
‘Order From Chaos’ has become an iconic feature in Cooper’s Emergence project, which started as a live AV show and over time developed into an album and digital archive.
Emergence is the story of natural laws and processes, their inherent beauty, and their action to yield the universe, us and the world we live in. Cooper tells the story in 24 chapters using a universe timeline, from pre-big bang to future, with each chapter a collaboration with a different visual artist, mathematicians or scientist.
‘Order From Chaos’ explores ideas of adaptation and some of the systems important in leading to the rich variation and specialisation of life we see today – in particular principles of morphological specialisation, emergent swarming behaviours, reaction-diffusion, immotile plant forms and simple motile life competing for resources.
Max Cooper’s recent work includes collaborations and associations with Zaha Hadid Architects, Dolby, Anthony Gormley, and the Babraham Institute and has featured in the Science Museum, V&A and many of the world’s leading music events.
