LGM Live: Featuring Mark Morriss, Tom Speight, George Cosby, Charlie Straw

Monday 31 July, 7pm

LGM LIVE present intimate songwriter showcases, amalgamating some of best talent that the music industry has to offer, with the latest up and coming artists. This month’s line up will feature:

MARK MORRISS (THE BLUETONES)

Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting English indie outfit The Bluetones. Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan, before temporarily disbanding in 2011. Since 2013 Mark has also been a member of Acid Jazz label mate Matt Berry’s touring band The Maypoles and has a new album due to be released in April 2017.

TOM SPEIGHT

Tom Speight has had quite a year already. He has racked up millions of plays on Spotify, seen both of his last two singles make it onto the Radio 2 playlist, his trio of Eps have all charted in the iTunes top 10, and he’s written songs with everyone from Mumford and Sons to X Factor finalists. After a two-year break from music, for emergency surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, he’s now back and poised to become one of the UKs biggest singer songwriters.

GEORGE COSBY

One of the most striking new voices to emerge from the London music scene in years, George is a talented and poetic songwriter who has immersed himself in music from an early age. He has purposefully strayed from a somewhat rigid way of singing to find his own unique, haunting and soulful sound. An unparalleled range, combined with a raw and endearing stage presence, makes George’s live performances speak volumes. One to watch out for and not one to miss.

JOHN JOSEPH BRILL

John Joseph Brill has now released two critically acclaimed EPs, amassing close to 1,000,000 Spotify streams. The first, the Pieces EP, (produced by Andrew Davie of Bears Den and Kristoffer Harris) laid a foundation at radio with support coming from Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio 2 and Radio X as well as in Europe. Lead single ‘Muscle And Bone’ featured as Q’s ‘Track of the Week’, Clash’s ‘Track of the Day’ and received widespread blog coverage. ‘False Names’, the second of the two EP’s, continued to build increased support at radio and online and spawned European support slots with Daughter and Bears Den, topped off with a sold out headline show at St Pancras Old Church and a support with Carole King at Hyde Park’s British Summer Time.

CHARLIE STRAW

Charlie is a hotly tipped new artist from the Wirral via Leeds and London. After a packed out show at this year’s Great Escape Festival we had no hesitation in booking him for our next Groucho show. In this time he has supported artists such as Luke Sital Singh, James Bay and Nathaniel Rateliffe as well as playing for BBC Leeds, BBC Introducing Leeds, Beacons Festival and Live At Leeds. One to watch for sure!
